I’m a pathology resident at University Hospital Cologne. Between medical school and residency, I spent a year as a product manager at a medical startup, translating what clinical teams actually need into software that works for them. I went back to clinical work, but I never stopped building things.
At this point I’ve shipped a few projects—Blue Book Search, which makes WHO pathology reference books properly searchable, and ReproAudit, which runs automated reproducibility audits on research code. Both came out of problems I ran into firsthand—a process that’s more broken than it needs to be, and an itch to fix it.
What I enjoy most is when knowledge from one area turns out to solve a problem in a completely different one. Medicine, software engineering, product design, even philosophy—these all feed into each other in ways that keep surprising me.
I love working in public healthcare—the purpose is real and the work never gets boring. I build on the side because I like creating things that are useful to people. If you have a workflow that’s been annoying you or an idea you want to think through, I’m always happy to talk.
Outside of both, I shoot film and keep a photolog.
